Two Seychellois-owned hotels earned top honours at the World Luxury Hotel Awards, held at the St Regis Hotel in Doha, Qatar on Saturday night.
Bringing together over 350 hotel representatives from more than 50 countries around the world, the World Luxury Hotel Awards (WLHA) ceremony saw CaranaBeach Hotel receive the Luxury Contemporary Hotel award, while Denis Private Island secured the award for Best Scenic Environment, for the third time in a row.

“We are delighted to be able to represent Seychelles on the world stage for these awards,” said Denis Private Island’s PR, Branding & Communications Manager Nicole St Ange, who attended the ceremony to represent both hotels. “For Denis to be recognised yet again speaks to the unique qualities of the island, and makes the argument that nature, together with hotels that embrace it, is the highest form of luxury.”

The award also marks a promising start for the newly opened CaranaBeach, which opened on Seychelles’ main island of Mahé earlier this year in April.wlha-statue-2
“It is extremely gratifying to win such an award in our first year of operation,” CaranaBeach Managing Director, Alan Mason said. “This is an honour that our entire launch team and staff should be proud of, as it largely reflects their efforts in creating the special atmosphere of hospitality we offer to our visitors. But most importantly, this is the kind of award that increases visibility for the entire trade and for the airlines and DMCs servicing our destination.”
Now in its 10th year, the WLHA recognises luxury hotels in over 50 different categories on a per-country, regional and global basis. Public vote selects all winners; this year generated a record of 160,000 online voters, “reflecting real recognition for the hard work and dedication of hotel staff and hotel standards,” according to the WLHA.
